How Can You Pass Up This…

Posted by foreualways on August 16, 2011

In my previous post I included a few links as I am always bookmarking sites and articles that I find are interesting. I know who doesn’t! I know. Rolling on the floor laughing

So here is some more interesting links…

image_thumb[3]This is the main page http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/index.html scroll down and you will see a link on your lower right side that say,” Now, enter the Radio Shack Catalog Archive”, here –> http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catalog_directory.html

wordpress radio 1

So this first website take me back because I use to spend a lot of time at their store and had look forward to their catalogs.

Yes, I ordered a lot of stuff from them a lot when I was younger and I did all kinds of projects.

I just thought that they were the coolest store and had all the coolest gadgets / toys. Who hasn’t gotten something from Radio Shack at one time or another? I was into the electronic project kits, such as this one here….

Another thing I think is kind of interesting, especially in today age of high tech gadgets. Is looking up the year you were born (they had from 1939 to 2005, with the exception of the years 1942 – 1944 (see explanation here http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/1942-44_catalog.html) and are missing the following catalog’s 1946 – 1948) and what was available during that year! It think it kind of interesting to see how technology has changed over the years!

imageNext would be 2 different websites that cover the same topic of “tilt shift” photography. One is http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/11/16/beautiful-examples-of-tilt-shift-photography/ and the other is http://tiltshiftable.com/. They both have some very interesting photos of tilt shift as well as videos of the effect too!

Here a few photo’s from both websites so you can see now whether you would like to go there….

(Note that the above image is from the SmashingMagazine.com link above. The image below is from tiltshiftable.com right here on WP. Click the pictures will take you to their sites.)

imageThis next and last link for this post has to do with photography as well but in a very different, interesting and imaginative way!  http://dearphotograph.com/

They take a photograph from say 20 years ago and hold it up to that same background today and reshoot the picture! Here a few photo’s of what they do. Clicking on the pictures will take you too their site. Also the site is tumblr.com, but it public so you don’t need to create a account to view it!

Well I hope you find them at least interesting!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Career Choices

Posted by foreualways on July 14, 2011

An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn’t really know what he wanted to do, and he didn’t seem too concerned about it. One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy’s room and placed on his study table four objects.

1. A bible.
2. A silver dollar.
3. A bottle of whiskey.
4. And a Playboy magazine.

“I’ll just hide behind the door,” the old preacher said to himself. “When he comes home from school today, I’ll see which object he picks up.
If it’s the bible, he’s going to be a preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he’s going to be a business man, and that would be okay, too. But if he picks up the bottle, he’s going to be a no-good drunken bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be And worst of all if he picks up that magazine he’s going to be a skirt-chasing womanizer.”

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son’s foot-steps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room.

The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the objects on the table. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. He picked up the silver dollar and dropped into his pocket. He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired this month’s centerfold.

“Lord have mercy,” the old preacher disgustedly whispered. “He’s gonna run for Congress.”

Wow! A Quadrillion-Dollar Credit Card Bill

Posted by foreualways on July 15, 2009

North Texas man gets 17-digit surprise on his credit-card statement

A North Texas man has a 17-figure credit card statement after a bank glitch resulted in an eye-popping charge.

This is what it looks like: $23,148,855,308,184,500.00.

Here’s how to say it: 23 quadrillion,148 trillion, 855 billion, 308 million, 184,000 and 500 dollars.

It’s more than 2,000 times the national debt — and, according to Jon Seale‘s online credit card statement, it’s what he spent July 13 at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck.

“For that amount of money, I could actually own Wolfgang Puck himself," Seale said.

Seale, a husband and father of five from Trophy Club, spent much of Tuesday making calls to Wachovia and Visa in hopes of getting the exorbitant charge removed from his Wachovia Visa Buxx credit card. Both companies told him they were working to resolve the issue.

“It’s an inconvenience, but it’s not like I was truly worried my money was gone," he said. "It’s an obvious, glaring error.”

Seale even tried tracking down the celebrity chef himself.

“I tried to find Wolfgang Puck on Facebook and add him as a friend to see if he’d make a comment, but I didn’t have any luck finding him," Seale said.

Visa said the technical glitch that resulted in the giant charge only affected some customers with prepaid Visa cards.

"A temporary programming error at Visa Debit Processing Services caused some transactions to be inaccurately posted to a small number of Visa prepaid accounts," said Visa spokeswoman Elvira Swanson said in a written statement. "The technical glitch has been corrected, and all erroneous postings have been removed.”

Steale was not the only Visa Buxx cardholder to see the huge charge on his statement. A New Hampshire man found the $23 quadrillion charge after buying a pack of cigarettes at a gas station. A Visa representative said affected customers will also have the $20 overdraft fees removed.
